Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held at The East Longmeadow Senior Center located at 328 North Main Street on Thursday February 8, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. to review and hear comments relative to a proposed Board of Health Regulation entitled Restricting the Sale of Tobacco Products. Proposed policies in the draft regulation include, but are not limited to, the following: cigar minimum packaging/pricing, restricting the sale of flavored tobacco products, banning the sale of blunt wraps, and capping the number of local tobacco sales permits issued.

The East Longmeadow Health Department, under the guidance of the Board of Health, assesses and addresses the needs of the community in order to help protect and improve the health and quality of life of residents and visitors. This is carried out by the implementation of disease surveillance, health promotion, and environmental health inspections.

The Board of Health is responsible for making health policy for the Town of East Longmeadow, which includes:
  • Creating new policy
  • Holding public hearings on existing policies
  • Hearing variance requests for existing policies
The Health Department is responsible for implementing the policies of the Board. As a result, the Department is responsible for the enforcement of policy.
